Whoa...That's a shock

Ever sign into your computer all unsusupecting and read something that shocks you so much you have a physical startle reaction? That's what happened to me this morning when I launched explorer and saw in the news on my homepage that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, had been killed on Monday. Is there anyone who doesn't know who he is? Is there anyone who didn't find him both likeable and crazy? Is there anyone who isn't thinking now that his death was inevitable? I actually have that feeling you get when something bad has happened, a funny feeling in your stomach. Not like grief over someone I love, but a sense of sadness and a feeling that something is wrong. I feel especially sorry for his wife and children. Conservation has lost a passionate advocate, but much more importantly--two children have lost their dad.

I experienced the same shock when I read this section of your blog and had to leave immediately to look at the news for the day. What a tragedy for his wife and his children. Steve Irwin displayed such a zest for life while taking risks with his life, he will be missed.

I remember Natalie Wood but not actually the moment in time you are referring to (me telling you) but do you remember poor Thelma Dickerson? I think we could have handled that better!
